4 cycle routes with a Velo

The red Velo bikes have become a real feature in the city. This successful and convenient sharing system has been up and running for more than 20 years. Join in the celebrations by cycling one of these routes on a Velo.

Velos are perfect for short trips in the city, but you can naturally also cycle for longer. The main benefit is that the following routes pass Velo stations, allowing you to park your bike in lots of different places. Shopping? Drinks on a terrace? Visit a museum? It's all possible. Ready to cycle again? Then simply take a new Velo. Set the saddle at the right height and off you pedal! Find out how to use a Velo.

Route 1:  Discover Antwerp's highlights

This cycling route of only 26 kilometres takes you past no less than 40 of Antwerp's sights. Get a glimpse of the monumental hall in Centraal Station? See skaters doing their tricks in the Municipal park? Cruise along Park Spoor Noord? It’s all possible. And along the way you'll find lots of lovely places for a rest, and a delicious drink. You'll need to choose!

Route 2: Discover Antwerp's districts

There's naturally much more to Antwerp than the historic city centre and famous districts like Het Zuid and the Eilandje. A grand total of nine districts join up to create the big city. This cycle ride takes you to these districts, except those located in the far north. Get ready for a 54 km ride through Berchem, Wilrijk, Hoboken, Merksem, Deurne and Borgerhout. There are lots of highlights, however, you'll certainly remember Linkeroever (Left Bank), the Polder in Hoboken and Park Spoor Noord with Parkbrug as the gate to the city.

Route 3: Antwerp's districts - southern loop

Feeling a little less ambitious, then choose the southern loop in this tour. Well, in the widest sense of the word. This route goes all the way to Sint-Anneke and returns via the city centre to Berchem, as the starting point. Covering 36 km it is still a good ride, and includes two tunnels: the Kennedy cycling tunnel and the Underpass.

Route 4: Antwerp's districts - northern loop

You don't want to miss districts like Merksem and Deurne, but you don't fancy a long ride? Then choose the northern circuit of 25 km. From Berchem, you cycle past Deurne airport and Boekenbergpark to Rivierenhof, and take the bridge across the Albert Canal to Merksem. Using the cycle bridge, you reach Park Spoor Noord, the Eilandje and the historic centre. An amazing adventure!
