Green oasis in the city centre

Located near the Central Station, the diamond district, and the main shopping streets, Stadspark offers a refreshing escape from the buzz of urban life. Take a short, relaxing stroll around the large pond, designed in English landscape style. Or relax on a bench surrounded by greenery while the children play on the playground or the skate track. Don’t miss the historic Keiligbrug, an elegant suspension bridge flanked by artificial rocks on both sides. 

Tip: Love jogging? This park is a favourite with runners. 

Harmoniepark

Brunch with leafy views

At the edge of Berchem is the newly redesigned Harmoniepark. The historic event hall now houses municipal offices, giving the park a busy, bustling energy – perfect for relaxing and people-watching. Feeling hungry? Restaurant Nives has a lovely terrace where you can enjoy a delicious breakfast or brunch with a view of the park.  

Tip: Don’t miss the art deco fountain designed by architect Henry van de Velde in honour of composer Peter Benoit. 

Antwerp ZOO

Historic zoo in the heart of the city

Next to the Central Station lies a unique green oasis: Antwerp ZOO. This historic zoo, one of the oldest in Europe, is a must-visit for animal lovers and a delightful place for a stroll. Inside, you’ll be treated to lush greenery and beautiful architecture, like the iconic Egyptian temple. You’ll need a ticket to enter, but in return you’ll get a one-of-a-kind walk through nature and heritage in the heart of the city. 

 Tip: Stop by the neo-Louis XVI-style Grand Café Flamingo for a drink and a bite to eat or grab an ice cream at Crèmerie Flamingo near the entrance.
