The electric shared scooter: impossible to imagine Antwerp without it. Logical too, because such a scooter is fast, affordable and environmentally friendly. Get around the city quickly and trendily on a scooter from Voi, Lime or Bolt. Here we explain all the do's and don'ts of the shared scooter.
Where can you find the shared scooters?
In Antwerp we have shared scooters from Voi, Lime and Bolt. They all work with a free-floating system. This means that they do not have a fixed parking spot, but can be found scattered throughout the city.
How does such a shared scooter work?
Step 1: Download the app
To use a scooter, you must first download the Voi, Lime or Bolt-app. You can find the app in the App store or Google Play store. Just create an account and you're ready to go.
Step 2: Scan the scooter
The app will show you where the nearest shared scooter is. There is a QR code on the handlebars of the scooter. Scan this to unlock the scooter.
Step 3: Scooter quickly and safely through Antwerp
Riding an electric scooter is very simple. Kick off to get the scooter moving and accelerate using the throttle. Want to slow down? Then you can brake or just simply release the throttle.
Important: on an electric scooter you must follow the same traffic rules as for cyclists.
You are also not permitted to carry passengers. Thus 1 person per scooter.
Step 4: Park your shared scooter
After your journey, park the scooter in a drop zone or at a place where it will not bother anyone. Go to the app and end your journey.
How much does a shared scooter cost?
The price for a shared scooter depends on the provider. There is always a flat charge of € 1 per journey, in addition to which you pay per minute used.
- Voi: 0,25 euros per minute (no start-up costs), Voi also has various (day) passes and subscriptions
- Bolt: 1,13 € per kilometer
- Lime: €1 + €0.28 per minute
Payment is made via the app.
