A piece of Antwerp history

Did you know that Seefbier has been around since about 1600? After the First World War, the beer (and the recipe) disappeared from the city scene. Until 2008, when Johan Van Dyck stumbled upon the name “Seefbier” in a book about lost urban breweries. After a 3-year search, he found the original recipe with the necessary help, and revived the famous and historic Antwerp beer. Together with his wife, he now runs the local and independent brewery the Antwerpse Brouw Compagnie. Nice fact: in 2012 Seef got the stamp of official city beer.
